The Ride of Silence is held in North America and rolls across the globe. The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road and remain silent during the ride. The ride, which is held during National Bike Month, aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to public roadways. Cyclists take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often is not aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.

Ben Butterworth path parking lot River Dr and 55th St on the East Moline border.
A combination of trail and lightly traveled roads in IL. The length will be between 25 and 35 miles with shorter rides in the spring and longer rides with more daylight in the summer. The pace will be 14 to 15 MPH and will be faster in the summer than in the spring as we build up fitness. There will usually be at least one good hill to climb. We will regroup at corners and at the top of hills as needed to keep the group together. The starting location will be in the Ben Butterworth parking lot in Moline, River Dr and 55th St on the border with East Moline. If this lot is flooded, we will move 3 blocks south to the old Hardee‘s on the corner of 4th Ave and 55th St.
Ride the Davenport & Bettendorf trails for a loop ride. County roads may also be part of the 25-28-mile route. 13-14mph pace. Optional lunch stop towards end of ride.
QCBC A/B group ride. Start location, time, and route shared Wed before ride.
