Quad Cities Bicycle Club Time Trial Series

The Quad Cities Bicycle Club Time Trial Series consists of four events where riders can accumulate points towards an overall series championship.

The series consists of four 25k distance individual time trials. Each race will be held on our QCBC Time Trial course in Barstow, IL.

The races start at 6p.m.  Race check is at 18617 1st Avenue, Barstow, IL 61236. The actual starting point is a short ride down the road to the starting point.  Riders should be at the starting point no later than 5:55 p.m.

The first rider will be sent off at 6p.m sharp. The following riders will be sent off in 30 second intervals until the last rider is on the course.

Race Rules:

  • There will be a designated official timing for the race. The time you receive from the official will supersede any other recording device you may be using.
  • There will be no drafting of the cyclist in front of you allowed during your individual time trial.
    • Exceptions will be for reasons of safety e.g. a car passing close by, a road obstacle, or when you are overtaking a rider in front of you.
  • Failure to adhere to this rule will result in disqualification. You must completely pass by the turnaround marker designated and communicated to you by the official.
  • There may not be an official at the marker, but racers will be made aware of the point and warned beforehand.
  • Failure to do this will result in disqualification.

Competitive Categories:

  • There are four categories to compete in for the individual time trial. To be eligible for the overall series championship you must compete in the same category in each race.
  • You must declare to the official which category you are competing in when you check in the night of the race.
  • Once your choice has been written down there is no changing category for that date. To be eligible for the overall series championship you must START 3 of 4 races, all in the same category. e.g. all as Men's Open, all as Women's Breakaway.
    • You may race in different categories throughout the year on different dates, however you will not be eligible for the overall series championship. Categories are as follows.
    • Men’s Open
    • Women’s Open
    • Men’s Breakaway
    • Women’s Breakaway
  • Category definition.
    • Open- any bike with any wheel set, time trial and triathlon bikes would be common along with a full disc rear wheel.
    • Breakaway- a bike with no aero bars whatsoever, no full disc wheels whatsoever. A standard road bike would be common. Motors or pedal assist are not allowed whatsoever, in all categories.
  • PRIZES FOR 2024.For the 2024 series we will be presenting a prize to the overall series champion for EACH CATEGORY. For the 2024 series the prize will be a QCBC custom cycling kit (bib shorts and jersey).
  • Points towards the overall series championship will be awarded as follows:
    • 6 points*
    • 4 points*
    • 3 points*
    • 1 point for all other finishers.
  • In the event of a tie at the end of the series we will put the racer’s finishing time for each race against each other head to head to determine the series winner. In the event one of the tied racer’s had completed a race in which the other tied racer did not, we will consider the margin of victory for that race the total finishing time that the racer received that date.e.g. Racer 1 finished at 35:30 , racer 2 did not compete that date at all. Racer 1 has a margin of victory of 35:30 over racer 2.
