The trip will take place from Wednesday, May 8 through Friday, May 10. Along with QCBC members, members of the Elmhurst (Illinois) Bicycle Club and Fox Valley Bicycle and Ski Club have been invited on the trip.
Lodging will be available at the Root River Inn and Suites in Lanesboro, MN, with a block of rooms set aside for group members. Those who register and indicate they plan to take the trip will receive an email from the hotel; final reservations can then be made. The Root River State Trail is a paved multiuse trail that was developed from an abandoned railroad line. The trail is 42 miles long and runs between the Minnesota towns of Fountain and Houston. A branch known as the Harmony-Preston Valley State Trail links to the Root River trail, near its western terminus. To learn more, visit the trail website: Root River Trail.
Riders who take the trip can follow four basic routes, ranging from 22 to 46 miles. Those who register will be sent information on restaurants and attractions in the area.
