Camden Centre in Milan was again the site of the QCBC Annual Awards Banquet last Sunday November 4th. Nearly 60 attendees braved the weather to hear Andrea Cohen formally of Davenport talk about her ultra-cycling experiences tackling the 2,740-mile Tour Divide mountain bike race starting in Banff National Park and concluding at Antelope Wells, NM.

A social hour proceeded the dinner with attendees able to view the club’s history display as well as electric bikes provided by TREK and Healthy Habits bike shops. The Quad Cities bike shops provide gifts that were used as door prizes for drawings which were conducted throughout the evening.

Kathy Storm presented “First Century” plaques to Evan Qualls, Chris Lohse, Carol Brooks and Steve Powell. David Thompson then followed and handed out “Around the World” awards to Trent Thompson 25,000, Dixon Novy 50,000, John Harrington 100,000 and Rod Hawk 150,000.

Dave Ring was award “Volunteer of the Year” by President Jim Hudson. Dave Thompson came back on stage to announce the “Award of Merit” recipient for 2018 but first, ask previous winner in attendance to come forward to be recognized. Award of Merit winners in attendance were John Harrington (2015) Deb Mathias (2011) Bill Weibel (2002) David Thompson (2016) Kathy Storm (2010) Dean Mathias (2011) and Ken Urban (2013). David then announce the 2018 Award of Merit winner as Charles Curry.
